Holos are an award-winning producer of kombucha based in West Sussex, UK. From the time of their launch up to summer 2023, Holos packaged their entire range of beverages in glass bottles, in the traditional manner for kombucha. Looking for ways to expand their range and stand out from the crowd, they successfully trialled a new product to be exclusively offered in a 250ml slim beverage can. Reception was so positive to the new format that they secured a new listing with a nationwide restaurant chain, and therefore had an urgent requirement for a canning line which could be added to their compact production space. Having reviewed the small fully automatic canning machines available in the market, Holos concluded that the Innovus CF15 was the best choice for their needs as it offered a compact, fully mobile and advanced canning solution, with the ongoing technical support available to minimise production risk whilst they accelerated the new packaging format.
When taking the order from Holos we were made aware that timescales were very tight, with minimal room for contingency due to the rollout to their new restaurant customer. Thankfully the order was delivered well within the advised build schedule and Holos were able to successfully fulfil their first orders of the new range in cans, going on to grow the canned range over the next 12 months, with cans now sitting alongside bottles as a permanent fixture in their lineup.
During the first year of production with the CF15, Holos experimented with both labelled and fully printed cans, eventually deciding to add date coding functionality to the canning line. Due to their unique production setup and site restrictions however, they could not utilise the standard date coder conveyor assembly we offer with all automatic lines, therefore with both parties keen to find a solution, we worked closely with their team to design and manufacture a new bolt-on assembly to the CF15 allowing them to integrate the Domino Ax150i date coder between the canning machine and their third party labeller.
